Comments:
He’s hungry, sometimes mean, and definitely one of the
hottest newcomers to fill UPW’s squared circle in some
time. Tony Stradlin, who cut his wrestling teeth in
Shawn Michael’s San Antonio school before heading out
west to try his luck and skill in So Cal’s leading
indy promotion, has definitely learned from the best and
paid his dues big time, despite his young age…and the
hard fought life lessons he’s had to endure along the
way.
Originally
raised out here with a standout athletic career and an
equal love for the sport of pro wrestling, Stradlin
decided that training with WWE’s best was definitely
the way to go, so at the age of 18 he packed up his car
and headed out to Texas for six months at the Heartbreak
Kid’s legendary school. Arriving just at the time that
UPW alumni Spanky had landed his first Titan Memphis
development deal, Tony recalls the departing future
superstar and then trainee often coming to Michael’s
school and working out with him and others; an
invaluable experience for the up and coming rookie. What
followed after were several years in Georgia’s NWA
Wildside where he developed a large and sometimes
checkered reputation as member of the tag team TNT along
with friend and partner Todd Sexton.
It was during this time that Tony not only
learned to hone the skills he learned from his former
master teacher but to also come to appreciate how hard
it was to make it in this business, as he spent the
first eight months living in a variety of places
including out of his own car; all to pay the dues that
will hopefully pay off big time in the not too distant
future.
When he wrestled against Ultimate Pro
Wrestling’s tag team supreme and UU instructors The
Ballards earlier this year on an NWA/TNA show, the
Canadian wrecking crew encouraged Stradlin to return to
our stomping grounds to seek his fortune here. Since his
arrival at UU in February, word has gotten around
quickly that this is more than your typical student; but
instead someone with already developed charisma, talent
and extraordinary potential.
As he moves from the RAW training ring to the
major UPW venues in coming months, look out for this
fanatic fireball of raw talent…He will stop at nothing
to make it to his ultimate goal, WWE…and is working
non-stop to prove that fact to those with the
decision-making power necessary to propel him to
stardom.
