Comments:
He is
huge and fearsome; this Teutonic head-banger who has
returned to UPW arenas to raise uncontrollable hell and
havoc. First,
though, Stefan Gamlin must face the challenge of
international shootfighting competition, as our fed
moves out into the arena of Valor Fighting.
Gamlin,
whose awesome presence first was seen back in 1998 when
he began his Ultimate Pro career, was quickly signed to
a WWE development deal that saw him train for six months
at Kentucky’s Ohio Valley Wrestling.
After a parting of the ways, however, he returned
back to our Western shores and dominated and eventually
won the UPW-dominated competition on the Toughman
Wrestler vs. Football Player FX special; then moved on
to a successful season at the popular “Battledome”
UPN action-game series.
He’s also been featured recently in the ESPN
reality series “Wild Rules” and in numerous
commercials where he often plays a football player; not
at all a false casting; since his pre-squared circle
life revolved around the sport.
Raised
in Europe as an Air Force brat, Gamlin led a rather
turbulent teenage existence, with many street fights but
also with a developing skill on the gridiron. When his
family moved back to the States he excelled at
University of Arkansas as a defensive tackle, and then
was signed to the NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy where
he was a standout too, until a career-ending knee injury
forced him to look elsewhere.
Moving
out to California and learning about the emerging So Cal
indy giant, UPW, he began a mat career which only now is
being resumed through Rick Bassman’s launching of
Valor Fighting; culminating in Gamlin’s signing to K-1
for a four fight deal and a recent first match against
superfighter Bob Sapp.
Currently
off to Japan, Stefan Gamlin promises to shake things up
big-time in the Orient and warns fans here, as well,
that Southern California may also lie in his gun-sights
when the time is right to cause major shock-waves here
on our own American shores.
