Parlaying a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity into pro wrestling success…that’s what defines the already promising sports entertainment career of this recent primetime performer turned UPW rookie.  For Mike “the Miz” Mizanin, it has been years full of fun, excitement and challenges; from standout high school athletic career in suburban Cleveland to an only dreamed-of role on MTV’s Real World 10, that has created the unconventional path now leading into a career only fantasized about since he was a 5^th grader collecting WWF actions figures of Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior.

Indeed, it was the unlikely creation of a wrestling-like character called the Miz which he unleashed as an angry, yet entertaining alter-ego during his frustrating experiences with some of his on-camera roommates on the popular MTV series that has led him straight into the Ultimate University squared circle.

“Normally I am a cheerful, friendly and fun guy but the Miz came out when I got really frustrated with my female roommates on the show. The Miz basically said, ‘I don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone. I don’t care what they say or what they do’. He arrives when you get really p-o’ed and that adrenalin rush overtakes you. You start boiling and can’t control it. You just explode. Everybody has a ‘Miz’ in them.”   Although featured on only one episode of the series, fans took to the creation immediately and when it was repeated on the Battle of the Seasons special, it only grew in popularity.  “Now whenever I am doing a public appearance people ask me to do the Miz…I started thinking after a while…Why not move this up one notch higher and see if I can apply it  as part of a real career in the ring?”

Searching for a top-flight school, Mike was led to Ultimate U and immediately has shown signs of star potential, as he now learns the ropes in the real world of pro-wrestling.  Considered one of the hardest workers in his class, Mizanin has impressed those observing him in action there and soon should be impressing our many fans packing future UPW venues as well.

INTERESTING FACTS:

***Mike says he was always a ham; “stealing center stage” as a kid. This has led to his present study of acting here in SoCal.

*** He loved high school and was outstanding in all areas; playing football, baseball, basketball and running cross country. Was class president and senior editor of the yearbook.

***Attended Miami University of Ohio for a year-and-a-half before getting chosen for Real World 10: Back to New York.

***Created “The Miz”, a wrestling-like character which emerged during periods of frustration on the show.  “The Miz” is a big hit and an inspiration for pursuing a pro-mat career.

***Voted the MVP on “Real World Battle of the Seasons.”

***Now speaks weekly to large college audiences where he recounts his experiences on Real World and applies them to problems faced by students in similar situations.
