Longtime fans of UPW will no
doubt recognize a familiar face when watching the new martial
arts blockbuster motion picture “Fearless”. That is because
former UPW and WWE standout Nathan Jones appears in the film
that opened in the #2 spot at the box office over the weekend.
The film, directed by Ronny Yu, and starring Jet Li is being
hyped as Li’s “Final Martial Arts Epic”. As such, Nathan Jones
does his part to ensure that Jet Li goes out in Style. Jones
plays a dominant monster of a fighter (not exactly a big
stretch for the massive Australian!) by the name of Hercules
O’Brien. In the role of Obrien, Jones and Li’s character of
Huo Yuanjia deliver not only one of the best and most
memorable fight scenes in the film, but one of the best in
cinematic history!
This is not the first time that Jones has worked with some of
the biggest names in martial arts motion pictures. Jones
appeared in the legendary Jackie Chan’s Hong Kong hit, “Jackie
Chan’s First Strike” in 1996. More recently, Jones appeared in
“Tom Yum Goong”, the follow up to the international smash hit
“Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior”. The imposing Aussie also went
head to head with Brad Pitt in the opening battle of Wolfgang
Petersen’s epic, “Troy”. Although Nathan has had some great
battles in the ring, he has also had many on the silver
screen!
