For
immediate release - OCTOBER 31, 2002:
In
the ever fluid nature of pro wrestling booking, there have many BIG
changes for "Home of the Brave 2,"........GREAT changes.
First,
UPW is proud to announce the appearance of none other than
Shinjiro Otani and Masato Tanaka, two of the very best in
the world. This legendary and dynamic team comes all the way
from Japan, fresh after big stints in All Japan and their home
company, Zero-One. Otani & Tanaka have
requested.....no, demanded.....a match-up with the team that has
given them so much trouble at Zero-One, UPW's first-ever Heavyweight
Champion, Sylvester "Predator" Terkay and UPW's current
Heavyweight Champion, Tom Howard. UPW has honored this
demand and what promises to be one of the hardest-hitting matches in
UPW history has been made. This Wednesday, November 6, at The
Galaxy.
These exciting developments have caused some BIG
shake-ups at Home of the Brave. The full card is listed
below....
At press time, we're still awaiting final word on confirming that SPANKY will be making his final independent appearance
in California before starting on Smackdown. Spanky himself
called UPW and asked to be added to the card. He has
challenged Frankie Kazarian, hoping to break their
1-fall-to-fall tie at their 3-way dance with B-Boy at The Galaxy in
August. Providing Spanky does make it to Home of the Brave, where does this leave B-Boy, who lost to neither
man? Or for that matter, Mikey Henderson, Kid Vicious and
Shaolin Punk, all of whom are waiting in the wings.
With Howard joining Terkay, this once again leaves
Hardkore Kiodd without his title shot. Instead, Hardkore goes
mano-a-mano for the third time against Al Katrazz, in what has
become a very heated program. Hardkore and Al have now split
1-to-1 in their electric "falls count anywhere" contests, first at
The Galaxy in April and then in Laughlin in October. This
time, they're going for "respect." The winner of what will be
third and final falls count anywhere match-up, must make the
loser say that he respects him!
The conditions for the Women's Royal Rumble have been
changed. Previously, UPW had announced that the 2 finalists
woule meet at January 30's "4th Anniversary Show" to determine the
Champion. UPW has revamped these conditions. A winner
will be declared at Home of The Brave and this winner will be
declared the #1 Contender, to the eventual Women's Champion, who
will be decided on January 30, at The Galaxy. The competitors
for the Rumble at Home of the Brave have been finalized. They
are:
Rio Storm, Looney Lane, Melissa Coates,
Savvy, Erica "Jungle Grrrl" Porter, Heather "Teri Gold" Millard and
Tough Enough's Anni King.
All in all, Home of the Brave promises to be an
amazing evening, comprised of what undoubtedly is the strongest card
in Southern California this year.

November 6
Galaxy Concert
Theatre
Tickets now
available at Ticketmaster & Galaxy Box Office
The
evening will kick off at
7:30pm
sharp,
as Sonicfish Inc.
presents its first of the evening's two big musical performances, "The
Redneck Rolemodels" which
features UPW Urban Outlaws
entrance theme and "Bluefish"
a Southern California and Galaxy Concert Theatre favorite.
At 8:00 pm,
UPW will take the stage with the first of
10 BIG wrestling matches,
featuring what has often been called "the greatest assemblage of
independent wrestling talent in the world."
At
the conclusion of Home of the Brave's wrestling action, Sonicfish
Inc will host an after party,
as it presents its second live musical performance.
Founded
in December of 1998, UPW is one of the best-established independent
wrestling companies in the world. In celebration of its longevity
and its commitment to the future, UPW, in the tradition of
WWE, will beginning with
November 6, hold 4 annual cards.
In
this new "tradition," the November 6 Galaxy show will be called "Home
of the Brave," which was introduced last November at
The El Rey
Theatre in Hollywood.
Home
of the Brave will feature the return to UPW of
Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels,
the UPW debut of Steve
Corino (coming in a
day early to avoid problems at the airport!), defenses of all 3 UPW
Championships, featuring our Champions
Tom Howard, The
Ballards and
Frankie Kazarian, as well as the first rounds to determines
2 new UPW Championships!
UPW
abandoned its Women's
Championship in 2000 due to a lack of depth on the
SoCal scene. Now, with a BIG influx of
solid women's talent to
Ultimate
University,
UPW will be re-establishing its Women's Championship. First up is
an invitational Battle Royal on November 6. The two finalists will
face each other at "Season's
Beatings," UPW's 4th
Anniversary Show, this coming winter, where the winner will be
crowned the new UPW Women's
Champion.
In
the tradition of the very popular 6-man tag tournaments in Japan,
November 6's Home of the Brave will also feature 2 matches in the
first round of the tournament for UPW's
6-man Tag Championship. Teams entered thus far include
The Outlaws (Mike
Knox, Marshall Knox & Hollywood),
Hardkore,
Inc. (Hardkore Kidd,
Kid Vicious & Al Katrazz),
Savage (Samoa Joe,
Skulu and Solo
Snuka), The
University (featuring 3 upcoming students of
Ultimate University), The
Unholy Alliance (Predator,
Horshu & Jack Bull) and
The Thrillas
(Funky Billy Kim, Scott Lost & Joey Ryan). Two additional teams are
expected to be named soon.
