"Locked and Loaded” only 2 days away! |
|
|
I have been waiting since July to
type the words that appear in the above headline. Finally, the wait
is nearly over for the return of UPW! The response from fans and
performers alike has been amazing. Everyone is genuinely excited
that Ultimate Pro Wrestling is back. Longtime fans like myself have
many fond UPW memories. From dream matches like ‘Fallen Angel”
Christopher Daniels taking on Kurt Angle to the early days when
Samoa Joe finished off opponents with “The Samoan Elbow” rather than
“The Coquina Clutch” and John Cena was 50% machine; and wore the UPW
Championship around his waist, not the WWE Championship. At “Locked
and Loaded”, a new era of UPW will begin, and old and new fans will
watch as new memories and Superstars are created.
As mentioned over the past couple of weeks, several big matches
including Predator’s return to UPW from K-1 to face Babi Slymm, and
the first ever 6-Pack Challenge for Lil Nate’s UPW Lightweight
Championship have already been signed for “Locked and Loaded”. Here
is the latest on what promises to be a historic night of action:

 |
Chris Bosh to appear at “Locked and
Loaded”! |
|
As many Southern California
wrestling fans know, Chris Bosh is not the shy type; and is
always prepared to speak his mind. With his tag team partner
Scott Lost competing elsewhere that night, and fellow PWG
standouts Joey Ryan and Scorpio Sky appearing on the show, Bosh
does not want to miss out on all the fun. He claims that he has
something he wants to get off his chest (There’s a surprise!),
and he will address it in front of the live audience this
Saturday night.

Human Tornado replaces Kid Vicious in
6-Pack Challenge!
Kid Vicious was originally
slated for a spot in the 6-Pack Challenge for the UPW
Lightweight Championship. Vicious, who is also a trainer at O.C.
Dojo has dedicated himself in the gym as of late, and is in the
best shape of his life. As a result. he has packed on a lot of
muscle mass; so much so, that he has gone above the weight limit
to be eligible to compete in The Lightweight Division.
Incredibly, his replacement suffers from a broken foot!
So Cal fans are probably aware that an injured Human Tornado
recently “manned up” and competed in the brutal War Games match
at AWS Total War. Well, Tornado is at it again. He caught wind
of the open spot in the 6-Pack Challenge, and due to his rich
tile history in So Cal, UPW’s Championship Committee has granted
his request. Will Tornado somehow overcome the odds and his
injury to hobble away with the UPW Lightweight Championship?
Make sure you are on hand to cheer on this courageous performer
and find out!
Now, obviously, this begs the question: Who will Kid Vicious
face at “Locked and Loaded”? |
 |
|
|
|
 |
Kid Vicious to go one-on-one with Puma!
Well, there you have it! Kid
Vicious is in a foul mood, and is chomping at the bit for some
competition. He will have all he can handle on Saturday night;
as he will be facing New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Puma. Puma
recently made a huge impact on TNA’s Destination X pay-per-view.
The dynamic young competitor shined in the International
X-Division Showcase match which also featured Petey Williams,
Sonjay Dutt and Chris Sabin. The X-Division has no weight
limits, and Vicious knows that a victory over Puma will allow
him to gain the attention and respect that he feels is long
overdue. |

Disco Machine replaces Mestre, faces Skulu!
Unfortunately
Antonio Mestre,
who was scheduled to face UPW crowd favorite
Skulu, remains unable
to compete with an injured knee. Mestre wants it to be known
that he is working hard with rehab and looks forward to
returning to action soon. As they say, the show must go on.
Disco Machine has stepped, er danced up to the plate and will
now battle the powerful Polynesian. This one should be extremely
entertaining and just might steal the show! |

We hope to see you at O.C. Dojo for a fun filled night of action.
Pizza, soda and water will be available; and draft beer will be on
sale for fans 21 years of age and older.

Lil Nate defends Lightweight Title in 6-Pack Challenge! |
|

|
|
Predator and Slymm clash in a battle of UPW’s Big Men! |
|
|
Last week, it was announced that
Lil Nate would defend his gold in UPW’s first-ever
6-Pack Challenge for the UPW Lightweight
Championship at “Locked and Loaded”. While the champ and his
five hungry and talented challengers will no doubt put on a clinic
when it comes to high-flying and scientific wrestling, don’t expect
too much in the way of finesse as two of UPW’s biggest and most
popular Superstars lock horns in this “Colossal Jostle”! Both
competitors are extremely powerful and agile for men of their size,
and have impressive histories in Southern California. As a
result, it is very difficult to pick a favorite in this one. |
|
|
|
Sylvester “Predator” Terkay, the
first-ever UPW Heavyweight Champion is in the best condition of his
life as he has been training for Mixed Martial Arts and Kickboxing
competition. Speaking of which, the 2-time NCAA Heavyweight
Wrestling Champion has proven to be a force to be reckoned with
while competing in the world’s largest fighting promotion, K-1. He
made his K-1 debut by knocking his opponent (Mauricio da Silva) out
in just 13 seconds! As Good O’l J.R. would say, “These guys don’t
get paid by the hour!” Terkay also took 2-time Grand Prix Kickboxing
Champion Remy Bonjasky to the limit at K-1 Dynamite on New Year’s
Eve. For
more on this fight click here. Despite his success in the
fighting world, Predator has not stepped into the squared circle for
a Pro Wrestling match since teaming up with Tom Howard to face Chuck
Palumbo and Sean O’Haire at “Homecoming Havoc” on February 22, 2005.
This lengthy layoff may help open the door for Terkay’s opponent to
score a rare victory over Predator. |
 |
|
 |
Babi Slymm is the man who has the
unenviable task of facing the monstrous Predator at “Locked and
Loaded”. Slymm is known more by UPW fans as a tag team competitor
who often combines forces with
Under Pressure to
form The Southside G’s. Outside of UPW, the San Diego native has
become one of the most successful and decorated performers in
Southern California. Like Predator, Slymm can lay claim to being the
first Heavyweight Champion in a promotion’s history, in this case
AWS. During his reign, he defended the gold against many tough
challengers including Joey
Ryan, Scorpio Sky, former UPW Lightweight and Tag Team Champion
B-Boy, and former UPW
Heavyweight Champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce. Unlike Terkay,
Slymm’s sole focus has been Pro Wrestling competition. This could
greatly aid his chances in this battle of SoCal’s elite. Oddly
enough, his frequent competition could hurt him as well. This is
because Slymm will take part in a brutal War Games match at
AWS Total War
only one week prior to his clash with Terkay. How much will this
take out of him? |
|
One thing is certain; whoever does
earn a victory will also earn some big time bragging rights, and
will be knocking on the door of UPW Heavyweight Champion
Tom Howard looking for
a shot to once again have gold around his waist. If Vegas took
action on wrestling, they would have this one listed as a “pick em”
as Predator and Slymm are evenly matched. Damn, could you
imagine if you could bet on wrestling? If you could, maybe I
would not be typing this in my one bedroom apartment! |

Joey Ryan has something to prove. |
 |
This might seem like an odd
headline given the fact that Joey Ryan was named as “Wrestler of The
Month” on
socaluncensored.com and that he continues his reign as PWG
Champion. That being said, Joey wants to make an impact in
UPW. Over the years, UPW along with its wrestling school
Ultimate University has sent 30 of its best to WWE. Despite
this rich tradition, “The Technical Wizard” feels that he is
superior to anyone competing in UPW, and he will be out to prove it
on 3/25. Ryan plans on putting UPW’s track record of producing
stars to the test by challenging a dynamic young competitor who is
considered to be the top recent graduate of
Ultimate University, Evan Jelic.
Joey’s rantings are a big reason why he received the dubious honor
of being named “Most Hated Wrestler” in S.C.R.A.P. Magazine's "Scrappies"
Year End Awards. Will Ryan’s extreme confidence cost him and lead to
a huge upset? This is a golden opportunity for Evan Jelic to
quickly rise through the ranks and earn respect in his debut. |
