In 2004, UPW has seen more growth than ever before in its storied 5 year history.  UPW's Entertainment Overload shows sell out state-of-the-art concert venues and have developed stars such as John Cena, Victoria, Nathan Jones, and Frankie Kazarian, not to mention bringing in the very top WWE talent like Triple H, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, and more.  Throughout the years, UPW has been the debuting ground for over 200 wrestlers and a showcasing platform for hundreds more, 20 of whom have gone on to sign with WWE and 36 to Japan, both through UPW.

With over 5 years of producing these types of results, UPW has refocused its attention on the development of new and exciting wrestling talent.  In January of 2004, we introduced UPW Mat Wars, a "no frills" show presented at our Ultimate University pro wrestling school. UPW Mat Wars has quickly become the place for the best talent in the West to compete against each other in a showcase for pure wrestling matches.  Along with this, UPW Mat Wars has been the place for students of Ultimate University to debut and showcase all of the hard work they have put into this business.

Now, UPW has decided to take Mat Wars to the next level.  UPW is proud to introduce Road Wars, a production that will bring the wrestling quality of Mat Wars out of Ultimate University and into a town near you!  First there was Entertainment Overload, then there was Mat Wars, and now we present:
UPW Road Wars.  So stay tuned as UPW Road Wars debuts with its presentation of RAMIFICATIONS

FOR THE UPW MAT WARS TITLE
Tony Stradlin (c)

vs.

The winner of
The May Day Melee

?

This is a match that gives 20 wrestlers in UPW the opportunity to become a champion.  However it will not be easy.  First they must go through 19 other wrestlers at once in order to step in the ring with UPW Mat Wars Champion - Tony Stradlin.  Then they must defeat Stradlin, something which is much easier said than done.  When Stradlin was asked to comment on this match, he replied by slapping the microphone out of my hands and walking off.  If you ask me, I think he is still bitter about twice coming away empty handed after challenging Frankie Kazarian for the UPW Lightweight title.  One thing is for sure, Stradlin will be looking to send a message to Kazarian by showing that he is still a winner.  But he had better be careful, it's one thing not to win a second title, but it's another thing to lose the one you have.  And if Stradlin doesn't concentrate, he might walk out of RAMIFICATIONS without his championship!

Team Champion:
UPW Tag Team Champions -
The Ballard Brothers
&
UPW Lightweight Champion -
Frankie "The Future" Kazarian

vs.

Team Savage:
Ma'koa, Skulu & Sabbath

This is a match that West Coast fans have been waiting for.  The best tag team on the independents, The Ballard Brothers, wrestling along side the future of wrestling, Frankie Kazarian!  This is the first time they have ever teamed together and it will truly be historic.  However it will come against the most vicious and intimidating group in UPW history, Savage!  I had the opportunity to sit down with Frankie and the Ballard Brothers and they assured me that they were going to give the fans something they have never seen before. When asked if they are intimidated by Savage, Frankie said "We respect everything they have done, but we're not afraid."  Shannon Ballard added by saying "They might be big, and they might have defeated everyone who has crossed their path, but we are going to show them what tag team wrestling is all aboot."  This should defiantly be a show stealer, so get your seats fast cause I know I'm going to be sitting up front for this one!

FOR THE UPW WOMEN'S TITLE:
Erica Porter (c)

vs.

Valentina

Since winning the Women's Championship, Porter has said that no one is on her level.  She has said that she will take on anyone willing to step into the ring with her, and so far has been victorious, including an impressive victory over WWE's Ivory at UPW's last "Overload" show at The Grove.  When I asked Porter if she had anything to prove she said "I am going to show everyone at the show MY 'TNA'."  I must admit when she said this a huge smile came over my face.  Seeing this she leaned in close and said " Would you like to see my 'TNA' right now, I don't mind showing you."  Like anyone of you, of course I said yes!  As she stood up she motioned to unbutton her shirt, and then slapped me across the face.  While I was sitting there holding my face, she told me that "TNA" stood for Talent and Ability", and then walked off laughing at me.  After this, I hope someone puts her in her place, and Valentina just might be the women to do it.  She has been very impressive ever since debuting in UPW at our Mat Wars shows.  She has also had similar success all over the country including, no pun intended, TNA (Total Nonstop Action).  With this being her first opportunity to dethrone Porter, Valentina just might be able to do it!

UPW's
Andrew Hellman

vs.

ZERO-ONE's
Kohei Sato

UPW and ZERO-ONE have had a successful working relationship with each other for nearly 2 years now.  Ramifications will feature an exhibition between these two companies, each being represented by one of their most exciting up and coming wrestlers.  Andrew Hellman will represent UPW, and Kohei will represent ZERO-ONE.  Andrew Hellman has been an exciting fan favorite for some time now, consistently showing the potential to be a big time player.  He is someone with extreme dedication and a true love for this business.  Not to mention the fact that he is both tough and physical and will never back down from a fight. And that's exactly what this match will be, a FIGHT.  Because representing ZERO-ONE will be Kohei Sato, one of the top and most exciting up and comers in the business there.  He is a hard hitter and can break down an opponent with his lethal kicks.  Hellman has had tough opponents in the past, but nothing will compare to the brutality that Kohei Sato will be looking to unleash.  This will definitely be a hard fought match that will leave both wrestlers banged and bruised afterwards.  But the question remains, who will walk out of this fight the victor? And who will barely be able to walk out?

Tommy Wilson

vs.

"Funky" Billy Kim

Lil' Nate
and Jason Creed

vs.

Antonio Mestre
and Lionheart

This is a match with bad blood in it stemming back to Aftermath.  Lil' Nate was the special guest referee in Lionheart's match against Antonio Mestre.  At the end of the match, Nate tried to defend himself against Mestre with a chair, but accidentally hit Lionheart instead, costing him the match.  Not knowing it was an accident, Lionheart confronted Nate and the two ended up exchanging some blows.  Antonio Mestre tried to get involved but was knocked down by both men.  At UPW Mat Wars' next event, Lionheart, Nate, and Mestre will wrestle in a Triple Threat Match to settle the score.  When I sat down with Lionheart, he told me that he couldn't wait 'til the May 15th Mat Wars event, and that Ramifications was his opportunity to stand up for himself.  When I told him that Nate didn't hit him on purpose, he asked me "Have you ever been hit by a chair"?  When I told him that I haven't, he told me "Then you couldn't possibly understand what is going through my mind. I was out there competing in front of my family, and all the fans of UPW, and getting hit with that chair was something I didn't deserve. I can't let this go without defending myself and until you know what it feels like to have a steel chair crack against your bare back, you can't tell me otherwise".  Nate responded to these words by saying "Lionheart, I already told you that was an accident. But if you want to call me out I have no problem settling this in the ring.  But just remember, Lionheart, I was the one that helped you when you first got in this business.  I was the one you came to when you needed help.  Just remember that when you get in the ring with me on May 1st.  And oh yeah, last time I hit you it was an accident, but if you continue on the path you are going, the next one won't be!"  Now add to the mix that Lionheart has to team once again with Antonio, the man who cowardly attacked him from behind just 2 months ago.  And what role will Jason Creed play in this?  Creed has shown extreme athleticism, but the question is: does he feel any resentment teaming with the man who defeated him in his professional debut?  Will he take the high road, or will he, like Antonio, take the cowardly way out?  I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The X-Foundation
Joey Ryan and Scott Lost

vs.

Off Da Hook
Shawn Riddick and Supa Badd

This match isn't about titles, revenge, or bad blood.  Instead this match is about respect.  Both these teams have extreme respect for each other when it comes to wrestling.  And even though they like each other, both are looking to get the victory.  Success is nothing new to either of these teams, and nothing would be better than scoring the victory and earning a little bragging rights.  This will undoubtedly be a fast paced, back-and-forth battle.  Both teams know each other very well and certainly will have each others moves scouted.  It will all come down to who makes the first mistake, X-Foundation or Off Da Hook.  Only one team will win, and we'll have to wait till Ramifications to find out who it will be!
