January
15th, 2002
Well it sure is good to be back and doing what comes natural, being involved
in the wrestling industry. The last year was a rocky road with a lot of
things happening...and a lot of things not. That was then, this is now and
2003 will hopefully be a great year for everyone.
In a time when the wrestling industry is on a down slope across the board,
from attendance to ratings, I must extend a chorus of applause to all the
people who showed up on January 8 for the 4th Anniversary show. While the
booking was not the smartest with that many matches, the action certainly
was tremendous. I can tell you first hand that the next show and there-on
will be less, but more. In an industry where dedication by the athletes is
needed, it's essential to have that same dedication from the fans and after
the Anniversary show, I know the UPW fans are certainly dedicated.
Returning to UPW was unexpected by most, especially me, but when you enter
certain things with a mature and business approach, things can work out a
lot better for everyone. It was certainly nice to work with Todd Keneley on
the show and brainstorm ideas. I've been to the top and back and know what
it's all about, so I know Todd has what it takes to be moving further in
this business and is certainly an assett to UPW. It was good also meeting
Murphy McDermott. I hope to work more with him and get to know him better as
he seems like he has the passion and respect for the business that propels
your career further.
Big Schwag. Well, it was fun catching up with Brett and going over pre-tapes
with him and having a laugh, like old times, but better. Brett has been very
successful thus far in Hollywood and I hope he goes even further than he
expects.
All the boys were looking good and they were excited about the show. I've
been in many indy locker rooms, but the UPW locker room has always been the
most enthusiastic. There is a reason why so many UU and UPW students and
atheltes make it to their goals. They work hard, they train right and they
get along like a real team should and that's what locker rooms are all
about.
It's also good that two people can overcome any differences and bury the
hatchet. Obviously talking about myself and Rick. We have both changed over
the last year, for the better I may add, and we both have a better
understanding of where we want to be. When you have two personalities that
clash, cancel Christmas.
Anyway, it's great to be back and I next week I will have much news on the
next UPW show and the fewer matches that we will have the pleasure to
spectate.
WORD!
